Steven Sharp – Judo Instructor
Black Belt, Kodokan Judo
Steven Sharp began his journey in Judo in 2004, and over nearly two decades of dedicated practice, he has earned his Black Belt from the Kodokan—the birthplace of Judo and the world’s most prestigious Judo authority. This distinction reflects not only technical skill but a deep respect for the art’s traditions and philosophy.
As an instructor, Steven is known for his quiet confidence and patient guidance. His favorite techniques—Kushi Guruma (rolling wheel) and Tai Toshi (body drop)—reveal his preference for timing, leverage, and graceful redirection of energy over brute force. He teaches these movements with careful attention to detail, helping students feel the “why” behind each throw.
Despite his rank and experience, Steven sees himself simply as a guide and a fellow traveler on the Judo path. He believes the mat is a shared learning space where even the instructor is always a student. His humility, clarity, and genuine encouragement have made him a trusted coach and a respected member of the Judo community.
For Steven, Judo is not about winning or rank—it’s about mutual benefit, continuous improvement, and helping others discover their own strength.
