The first thing I would like to get across about the belts section and I say this lots “a belt only
holds up your pants” is that sometimes too much is placed into what color belt a person has. We
at Judokaa push very hard to get a student to their yellow belt as now in judo a person is not
allowed to participate in many events unless they have a yellow belt.
I have put in place a stripe system here at Judokaa in which a student must get three stripes
before moving to the next belt. It trains a student on how the belt system works and by the time
they reach a yellow belt they understand and know how the bow in line works.
We provide many prints outs in the downloads section that help with the belts promotions. We
also believe very strongly in a student knowing the proper names and techniques of each and
every move. This gives our students an advantage over the students that are not taught the proper
names.
Judokaa has a high standard but we back it up and even in our first year we took many awards
and continue to be a challenge in any event we take part in. Much of this comes from my military
background however I have toned it down to work in a kid friendly environment.
Judokaa is very active in the tournaments and this helps bring our students up through the ranks
much faster.
